Building Resilience: Burnout, Compassion Fatigue and Vicarious Trauma
Working with trauma, whether as an advocate, attorney, doctor, nurse, law enforcement officer, investigator, or even judge can have a negative impact on us.
This program examines the science behind why this impact is in some ways inevitable, and more importantly, what you can do about it. Combining the science of trauma with the science of resilience, you will learn specific skills for building resilience and lowering the impact of trauma. For example, we look at why mindfulness practice should be a requirement for everyone doing trauma work, and why having rituals that build positive emotion are so important.
